What is FSSAI Registration?

The full name of FSSAI is "Food Safety and Standards Authority of India." It is an agency that regulates and oversees the food industry in India. It is a self-governing agency established by the Government of India's Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

The FSSAI was founded under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 (FSS Act), a consolidated statute governing food safety and regulation in India. It ensures that food products are inspected for quality, preventing food adulteration and the sale of substandard products. It is responsible for registering and licencing Food Business Operators (FBOs) in India and establishing the rules and regulations governing food business operations in the country.

TYPES OF FSSAI LICENSE

Basic FSSAI License:

If the annual turnover of a food business is below Rs. 12 lakh then basic registration of food licensing is required. Generally when someone is starting up a business and unsure of expected turnover, basic food safety registration is done which can be upgraded to state license if the turnover exceeds Rs. 12 Lakh.

State FSSAI License:

If the annual turnover of the food business is more than Rs. 12 lakhs and less than Rs. 20 crores then one has to get state FSSAI License.

Central FSSAI License:

If the annual turnover of the food business is more than Rs. 20 Crores then central FSSAI License is required.

Online FSSAI Registration – A Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1:

Go to the Food License and Registration webpage.

  • Website-1 / Website-2 (Currently, two websites are available for obtaining a food licence and registering.

    • Step 2:

    Select license/registration and then select Apply for a New License/Registration.

    Step 4:

    Step 5:

    After Choosing Your Business, You Must Complete The FORM-A Available On The Website (You Must Complete All Data Marked With A Star*).

    Once All Data Is Completed, You Must Upload All Documents Required For Registration ( Below Document Must Required)

  • (A) Submission of a Declaration Form Is Required. You can download this FormForm from the Declaration's Upload Document section. You Must Sign and Upload the Document.

  • (C) Address Verification

    • Step 7:

    After You Have Uploaded All Required Documents For Fssai Registration, You Must Pay The Fssai Registration Fees.

    Step 8:

    After Payment, you can begin operating your business. Your Registration Certificate is emailed to you within 7 to 60 days (as per rule). Certificates Must Be Displayed In Your Business's Front-end Area.
